When I found the flip lid online, I was more excited than I’ve been in a long time!! I couldn’t make the purchase fast enough!! I had a spent about a month with a broken lid and restless nights. I had honestly put duct tape on the back of the machine to keep air from seeping out as I slept but the tape would move each night and I was reaching in my sleep to resecure the tape. This product has a lot of potential but ultimately led to a lot of interrupted sleep and reapplying of new adhesive pads. The magnetic connection is a good concept but trying to slide them off disturbs the adhesive pads. Also, there is an issue getting the filter and black straps in place with no leak. I’ve tried everything and it just led to a week of bad sleep. I’m also annoyed that I had to pay over $8 to ship the product return when there was a clear warranty and I only tried it for a week. The product is sub par and shouldn’t be sold. Trust me, I shaved, I used witch hazel to clean before adhesive placement and nothing worked. I have been wearing bite guards for bruxism, for the last 30 years. So I have a lot of experience making these boil-and-bite mouthpieces, using many different styles. I also have been using the other brand of CPAP mask that uses a bite guard instead of mask straps, fairly successfully for almost a year now. I decided to try this brand instead, because the other brand has a too-strong breeze coming out the exhaust port, the nasal pillows wear out strangely fast, and once in awhile my mouth opens in the night. I thought the double bite guard would be better for keeping my mouth closed, and maybe it would be quieter and not wear out so fast. Anyways… it took me a couple hours and lots of tools to fit this thing. It was like building a model airplane from a kit. It comes with a temperature probe which is nice for getting the bite guard really well shaped. But I also needed screwdrivers, needle nose pliers, diagonal cutters, and a dremel. Pro tips: 1. Keep the guard in your mouth way longer than you think you need to, because these things shrink while they cool. During the extra minutes you have it in your mouth, wiggle it a little bit, because that will make it a little less uncomfortably tight. Don’t worry it will still stay in place just fine since your teeth will clench on it. 2. It is easier to trim the excess plastic that squeezes out of the tray, with diagonal cutters rather than the nail scissors the instructions recommend. It is very important to trim it because if it presses on your gums it messes them up and you will get sensitive spots there. BTDT, long before I got this mask. 3. Use the dremel to trim and file the tray itself, to make it more comfortable in your mouth. I made this bite guard perfect! Probably the best one I have ever done. But even so, it is uncomfortably big and thick in my mouth. I decided to just use the top bite guard and set the bottom one aside in case I wanted it later. I used my dremel to remove some top tray material that pressed too much on one of my bottom teeth. Getting the two tubes connected and angled just right to focus the nasal pillows on my nostrils, was a challenge. I think some more purpose built plastic framing would improve this. As it is, it feels like I am trying to build my own mask out of generic pieces from the medical supply store. And it’s certainly not something you can fine tune by feel while laying in bed. No, you have to sit up, get your reading glasses and tools and some good light. The final result? HOPELESS. The exhaust port foam tubing things are super loud. The nasal pillows won’t seal if your nostrils are even slightly sweaty. It leaks if you wrinkle your nose, let alone if you move in bed. The weight of the hose pulls it and makes it leak. And the noise makes the cat want to face bump it. The two skinny tubes are very vulnerable to cat teeth and hard to create a protective cover for. I sent it back. But I can’t get a refund of the hours I spent to fit it. - By kbecker-9377

I’m not saying the hose had anything to do with getting COVID, but the experience made me decide that, personally, I’d rather change my tubing monthly instead of every three months, even though I clean it regularly. My insurance had provided the same type of hose, but it was too early for another replacement, so I would have had to pay out of pocket. I have always had problems with CPAP facemasks because I have Rosacea, an autoimmune disorder that causes my face to break out into acne sore when it is irritated. My experience with Evora began at an in hospital sleep study. Evora was the mask used there. Since I first started using CPAP five years ago The only mask I could find that I could use successfully (and I have spent hundreds of dollars trying different ones) was the Philips dream wisp nose mask. It worked except when my nose would be attacked by Rosacea. The Evora mask is a full face mask that sits under your nose and covers your mouth. Most full masks cause me to wake up at night in a panic when I seem to need more air than I am getting. With a nose mask I can just pull in more air. But for some reason Evora does not cause that panic. I think it is because of its unique design. There is a lot of room inside the mask. And it has an interesting ventilation structure. I am getting much more sleep now. If my nose breaks out, I use Evora. If my mouth breaks out I use the nose mask. - By ScrumblingRock
