So, you’ve got a new CPAP mask, and you’re ready to get a good night’s sleep—but the mask just won’t connect to your tubing! Don’t worry; it’s a common issue with a simple solution. In this post, we’ll go over why this happens and how to fix it in a few easy steps. Plus, check out the how-to video below for a visual walkthrough.
Why Won’t My New Mask Connect?
All of the masks we carry have universal fittings, meaning they’re designed to work with all standard CPAP tubing. If your mask isn’t fitting, it’s likely because a small adapter piece from an old mask is still stuck in the tubing. Once you remove that piece, your new mask should fit perfectly.
Quick Test: Is There an Adapter Stuck in Your Tubing?
To check if there’s something stuck, try this:
-
Squeeze the End of Your Tubing
Hold the end of your CPAP tubing and give it a gentle squeeze. If the rubber end cap compresses easily, there’s nothing inside. Your new mask should slide in smoothly. But if you can’t squish it, it’s likely that part of an old adapter, like a plastic swivel, is still in there. -
Try Reconnecting the Old Mask
Sometimes, reconnecting the old mask can give you the leverage you need to pull out the stuck piece. Gently twist and pull—once the piece is free, your new mask should fit with no issues.
